Sunnyvale, CA (2000)

Located on a prominent site across El Camino Real from the Sunnyvale City Hall, Walnut Orchard Apartments is a mixed-use development composed of 298 apartment units and 58,000 square feet of retail space. The principals of Thompson|Dorfman negotiated a long-term ground lease with the Olson family, who have owned the former Cherry Orchard for over 100 years. The project was opened for occupancy in March 2001 and experienced strong market acceptance. At least one YSA principal participated as design architect, supervising architect and/or senior designer while associated with the architect-of-record for this project.
