Nishitama, Japan (1997)
The Master plan for Twin Creeks Valley, resort development in the heart of Japan, encourages one to meander over one of the many footbridges or stroll through one of its many rural streets that connect this friendly pedestrian community. Designed in the tradition of a European village, the plan of this 2,500-acre development includes two 18-hole championship golf courses, clubhouses; 100 fairway villas; a town center, mixed-use buildings such as townhouses over retail; a grand hotel with conferencing capabilities and four “petit” hotels, a craftsman village district; a themed amusement park; and a residential community with over 1,000 housing units. At least one YSA principal participated as design architect, supervising architect and/or designer while associated with the architect-of-record for this project.
