Carolina, Puerto Rico (2009)
The plan has two housing types. The design includes 40 Duplex townhouses and 25 three level buildings totaling 150 walkup flats.
Apartment buildings are sited to form large private courtyards that give residents a safe, protected area for outdoor recreation. Uncovered parking is segregated from pedestrian areas, shielded from the main access road by paired townhouses. Additional open space is centrally located and positioned to create a curve in the access road. The curve tends to slow traffic, marks the center of the community, and helps to avoid a long, visually banal axis.
