Tortola, British Virgin Islands (2004)
The YSA master plan for Tortola’s Beef Island was designed for a US-based developer. At approximately 600 acres, Beef Island is located near the international airport serving the BVI. This land is the largest contiguous parcel available for development in this group of astonishingly beautiful islands that make up one of the world’s best locations for recreational boating.
The 400 unit Trellis Bay Hotel, with 500 seat conference center, is defined by a natural crescent-shaped bay and beach. 185 Hotel villas and 15 pool/beach Cabanas border the bay and lagoon adjacent to the 18 hole championship golf course. Other residential property includes 30 three-bedroom casita’s at the northwest edge of the bay, 27 courtyard townhouses at the old Beef Island Ruins, and 127 single family detached homes arranged along the natural contours of the hillsides of Tortola’s high-point.
A 300 slip marina is edged by 38 portside townhouses and 29 jetty boathouses. In the area of Hans Creek, 26 three and four-bedroom units offer outstanding views to the waters defining BVI, the hotel, and golf course. 87 clustered homes are planned along the golf course fairways. An 82 unit conjunto neighborhood is planned to provide high-quality, affordable housing for the resort service community.
