Angel No Mori, Japan (1992)
The site has rolling hills, rice farm valleys, and dense forests. The plan of this 2,650-acre development includes two 18-hole championship golf courses, clubhouses; 120 fairway villas; a town center, mixed-use buildings such as townhouses over retail; a grand hotel with conferencing capabilities and four “pocket” hotels, a craftsman village district; a themed amusement park; and a residential community with over 1,200 housing units.
The Owner’s manufacturing facility is located to the north. The semi-public golf course is situated between the factory and Town Center to the east. The private course is to the west.
The Town Center and amusement park and theme park are in the center of the site. The resort sites are in the southeastern sector, and residential parcels are located in the southwest. Entry to the project is from the major north-south and east-west roads. At least one YSA principal participated as supervising architect and/or senior designer while associated with the architect-of-record for this project.
