Daly City, CA (1996)
This 36 unit project located on a two acre site just south of San Francisco has numerous mature trees. This valuable resource was retained by carefully siting the buildings. A richly paved court organizes the community. From this space. several pathways lead into a landscaped inner space used for pedestrians only. Most units are entered from this landscaped area. The units consist of two -townhouse types: a tow story unit with tuck-under parking and a second story living level; and a more conventional two story townhouse. The tuck-under unit has attached parking plus the amenities of privacy and the raised ceiling which are possible with a second floor living area. At least one YSA principal participated as design architect, supervising architect and/or senior designer while associated with the architect-of-record for this project.
